Kirsten Knowles

I started dancing at the age of 3 at a local dance school. My training first started with Modern dance and then I picked up Ballet and Tap the year after. During my years here, I did graded exams in all three of these genres to a high level as well as competing in competitions with solo’s, quartets and groups from the age of 6.

At the age of 12 I joined Fi Steps where, alongside my technical dance school, I continued to train in a more commercial style which I loved. During my time at Fi Steps I had the opportunities to dance at many prestigious theatres such as the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Her Majesty’s Theatre, the O2 Indio Theatre, The Royal Albert Hall, MSC Cruise Ship and Disneyland Paris. At the age of 14 I was asked to be a teacher and I started teaching the Babies and Juniors class on a Saturday Morning. I loved teaching so much that every year after this I picked up teaching a new class until I was 18. Alongside teaching the weekly classes, I also had the chance to choreograph for outside shows which Fi Steps were invited to such as Disneyland Paris, Pasha Kovalev’s UK Tour (The Capitol) and Forward Motion.

It had always been my dream to go to a professional performing arts college ever since I was little and as much as I loved my Fi Steps family, the time came where I could start to auditioning for these colleges. I successfully auditioned for about 7 colleges and I chose to go to Tiffany Theatre College in Essex. Here I worked closely with industry professionals and completed a 3 Year Performance Course in Commercial and Musical Theatre in which I graduated with Distinction in July 2022.
Now that I have graduated, I’m excited to have been asked to join the teaching team again at Fi Steps with the new knowledge that I have learnt whilst being at college which I can’t wait to pass on to my new, and some previous students. Alongside teaching, I will still be auditioning for professional performing jobs so I can hopefully fulfil my dream job.
