Gemma started dancing at the age of 3. She attended the Geraldine Lois Theatre School then went on to the Roshe School of Dance. Gemma started working professionally at the age of 10 playing the part of ‘Roo’ at The Hawth Theatre, Crawley in the touring production of ‘Winnie the Pooh’. Whilst at Roshe Gemma had a supporting role in ‘Glyndebourne’ with BBC Films Worldwide and performed in many pantomimes at local theatres including The Horsham Arts Centre, The Harlequin and The Hawth where she performed in the first ever pantomime held there. At 18 Gemma was dance captain for Aladdin at The Hawth, Crawley.
Gemma furthered her training at Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts where she gained a Diploma in Dance and Theatre Performance. Whilst at college Gemma played ‘Oggy Moxon’ in the play ‘Teechers and ‘Kimberly Lyons’ in the musical ‘Smile’.
After 15 years in the industry Gemma made the transition to become a group fitness instructor teaching many classes in and around Crawley including Spin, Aqua, Piloxing, Skiptrix, Insanity, Adult Ballet and Les Mills Body Combat, Body Step and Body Attack. Gemma then went on to open her own studio in Crawley ‘The Art of Sweat’. Gemma then gained her level 3 PTTLS qualification and her level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Related Achievement. After gaining these qualifications she became an exercise to music tutor and assessor for various companies. Gemma then became an assessor for Les Mills Body Combat.
In 2015 Gemma decided to hang up her trainers and is now a professional chaperone for children in entertainment, an exam invigilator, teaches Adult Ballet and private Ballet and Tap lessons. Gemma is also a teaching assistant and Vice Principle at the Pauline Quirke Academy in Crawley.
Gemma’s children both follow careers in the entertainment industry.
Gemma is very excited to become part of the Fi Steps team and is looking forward to helping the students gain confidence, grow their skills and in any way she can, help the students on their career path.
